Jan moderates and produces for television, radio and web. He likes and makes formats between pop and politics, between reportage and talk. At the moment, he's confronting top politicians, internet savants and online election campaigners at his laptop at a kitchen table in Berlin with their election campaign promises and slogans: "Netzrauschen". Every month, the reportage magazine "Hanseblick" on NDR travels to Europe's outer borders: by train through Russia, digging for gold in the north of Finland, using a dictionary in a Russian shared apartment.

With his production company, Jan has been designing and realizing formats at the interface of web and TV since 2002. For the ARD summer interviews, he has been touring Germany as an outside reporter since 2010.
